- Omnia Pathe opened in Paris on December 14, 1906, as the world's first movie theater. This theater was part of the Pathé company founded by French film producer and distributor Charles Pathé. Omnia Pathe is a luxurious hall with a capacity of 250 seats, equipped with electric lights and decorated with red velvet curtains. The hall was showing silent films produced by Pathé. At the opening of the hall, a silent short film called “Le pendu” directed by Louis J. Gasnier was screened. Omnia Pathe is an important milestone in the history of cinema. This theater contributed to the acceptance of cinema as a form of art and entertainment. The theater has increased the number and diversity of cinema audiences. The hall also pioneered the development of cinema technology and aesthetics. Omnia Pathe was renovated in 1912 and a balcony was added. The theater switched to sound films in the 1930s.
