After a brief but extremely satisfying nap, Samurai and Loan Shark wake up. As Loan Shark gets up to look out the window and see what time it is, Samurai gets a quizzical look upon his face. Loan Shark jokes “I know you like my backside, but you don’t have to stare!” chuckling. Samurai gets up with a concerned look on his face and turns to peek behind him. “I don’t want to cause concern, but… where are our tails?” he asks, perplexed. Loan Shark quickly feels behind her, and exclaims “What!?! How? Where is it!”. Both monkeys quickly go around and wake the rest of the group. After a quick examination, it turns out all of them have lost their tails. Frantically, the group searches the hut, turning over tables and looking under the beds. Desperately, they run outside and look everywhere around the hut. No one understands how this could be. No monkey has ever lost their tail, as far back as could be remembered. They are essential for moving around in the canopy of the jungle! No one knows what to do and the group is on the verge of panic. How did this happen? Where did the tails go? How do they get them back? No one had answers. A monkey passes by while the group of eight are searching and stares bewilderedly at the scene unfolding in front of her. She says “What’s with all the Aping around?” with a strange look on her face. The monkeys are too busy to even notice her and she decides to leave these weird tailless monkeys be. Over the next several hours, the monkeys look all over the village. Fellow monkeys start calling the eight of them Apes, and when asked why, simply respond with “Well, you aren’t monkeys if you don’t have a tail.”. Finally, the eight monkeys ask the tribe elders if they’ve ever heard of monkeys losing their tails. While the elders have not, they mention a village on the other side of the continent where all monkey knowledge has been collected into a vast database. After some discussion, the newly coined Apes decide they need to visit this database in hopes they can find information about what happened to their tails, and how to get them back. Packing up supplies for the journey, all eight Apes head out into the jungle. This is their tale. This is the Lost Tales.
